Story from Customer: A Magical First Christmas at the Banff Christmas Market

Story from Customer: A Magical First Christmas at the Banff Christmas Market

There’s a certain kind of magic that fills the air when the Banff Christmas Market arrives each year. The scent of mulled wine, the twinkle of lights strung high above, and the families, bundled up against the cold smiling. This year, my little family ventured out to the market for an extra special occasion—our 8-month-old son Nico’s first visit with Santa.

Dressing Nico for the big moment was half the fun. My husband and I decided to lean into the festive spirit and dressed him up as a tiny Santa Claus. With his little red suit, fuzzy white trim, and an oversized hat that kept slipping over his eyes.

When the time came for Nico to meet the real Santa, we knew Nico would pull poor Santa’s beard. When Nico was placed on Santa’s lap, he reached out, wide-eyed to touch Santa's beard, and the elves around us chuckled. We were given complementary photos with Santa – capturing the perfect memory.

The Banff Christmas Market wasn’t just about Santa, though—it was about soaking in the holiday spirit. We wandered through the charming new location at the Banff Train Station, picking out treasures and admiring the creativity of local artisans. One of my favourite finds was a delicate ornament etched with “My First Christmas.” We also picked up a wooden moose and buffalo ornament that we’ll add to our growing collection of family holiday decorations.

If you haven’t made it to the Banff Christmas Market yet, there’s still time to experience the magic! Be sure to visit Jolene’s Tea House at their booth on the remaining market weekends. You’ll find the perfect blend to warm your hands and your heart, along with gift options that make holiday shopping a breeze.

This holiday season, I’m grateful for the joy of family, the beauty of tradition, and the magic of sharing it all with my little Santa, Nico. Here’s to creating memories that sparkle like the lights of the Banff Christmas Market—wishing you and your family a season full of love and wonder.

Happy Holidays!
